“Incognito Mode”

The reason BuyItLive is able to track comments over social media and offer a simple checkout solution is because of the connection that occurs when shoppers log in to our system. A simple comment on a Facebook sale starts a cart with the customer’s Facebook name. Logging in to BuyItLive using Facebook automatically fills in the additional required information to let them checkout securely.

What is “Incognito Mode”?

Occasionally you’ll see an active cart on your store with the name of a customer, but no profile photo attached. Instead, you’re seeing our “incognito mode” icon. This means their Facebook profile hasn’t connected to BuyItLive yet.

You can still add items to carts in incognito mode and/or increase their timer, but you won’t be able to mark their cart as a cash order until they’ve finished connecting by logging in to view their cart. This is because the cart needs to be associated with their personal BuyItLive profile.

Limitations

Besides not being able to mark an incognito cart as a cash order, there are a couple of other limitations you should be aware of as a seller on BuyItLive.

If you are a BuyItLive Professional seller, you have the option to restore expired carts. This can be a problem if an incognito cart expires, since we never had the necessary customer info. On the Restore page, any carts that expired in incognito mode will list zero customer information. The option to restore the cart will still be available, but there’s no way to tell who the customer actually is without having a BuyItLive developer search deep into the database.

Because of the limitations that come with “incognito mode,” it’s a good idea to encourage your customers to enter their carts some time during your live sale. Once they click the sale link, they’ll be prompted to log in and their Facebook account will connect with their cart. Try enabling our Messenger auto-replies to help remind customers to checkout!
