ShopText Messaging – Shopper

Shopping a BuyItLive sale is pretty fun, right? Well it’s about to get even better. It’s super easy to comment on a Facebook post to shop, and now the ease in BuyItLive shopping has extending to texting.

For the store owners you shop from who have chosen to enable ShopText, you’ll receive notifications when they go live, be notified when it’s your turn in line to purchase an item, and have access to your cart and other links through ShopText commands.

How Do I Sign Up?

You can only sign up for ShopText if the store you’re wanting to receive notifications from has chosen to pay for ShopText as a growth feature. Once they’ve added ShopText to their BuyItLive account, all of their customers can sign up for free (that’s you).

There are 4 ways you can sign up to start receiving texts from a BuyItLive store:

  1. The first is by opting in from your cart on any of their sales. When you enter your cart, you’ll see a little box at the top that when checked will give the store permission to contact you. Checking this box signs you up to receive text notifications, but ONLY IF you have your phone number added to your contact info on your BuyItLive profile. You should be prompted to add it, but if not, you can go into your profile and add it manually. 
    Note

    If you’re not sure if your phone number has been added (or if you want to go in and add it), you can click on the top right corner of your page to visit your profile and add it from there. Make sure to save your settings after you’ve added it.

  2. The second way to sign up is by opting in from the pre-registration page of a BuyItLive store. This will only be an option if the store is selling from a Facebook group, where pre-registration is required.
  3. The third way you can sign up to receive texts from a BuyItLive store is by texting ‘Start’ to their ShopText number. As long as they haven’t altered their post description, you should be able to find their number when they post a sale on Facebook.When you text ‘Start,’ you’ll receive either a thank you text in response for signing up with their BuyItLive store or a link to sign up with BuyItLive if you haven’t registered yet.
  4. The fourth way to allow stores to contact you via text can be selected from your customer profile. You can visit your profile by clicking on your profile photo in the top right corner. From there, you can select “Sellers Followed” to see a list of the BuyItLive stores you’re following. Simply click the box next to “Let them contact me” to allow a store to send you texts.

ShopText Alerts

Once you’ve signed up to receive texts from a BuyItLive store, you’ll receive text notifications when:

  • the store goes live
  • there’s one hour before your cart expires (if the cart timer is between 6 and 24 hours long)
  • you have 10 minutes left in your cart 
  • you’re in line for an item and it’s your turn

You can pause ShopText alerts for a day by texting back ‘Pause.’ Normal alerts will resume the next day. You can also unsubscribe from receiving texts from the store by texting back ‘Stop.’

ShopText Commands

Receiving texts isn’t the only thing ShopText is good for. As a valued customer, you can also text a command to a store’s number in order to access things that will make the shopping experience easier for you.

Available ShopText commands include:

  • ‘Start’ to opt-in to receiving text alerts from a BuyItLive store
  • ‘Cart’ to receive a link to your cart
  • ‘Link’ to receive a link to the most recent sale for that store
  • ‘Shop’ to receive a link to that store
  • ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove’ to remove all items from your cart
  • ‘Pause’ to pause texts for a day from that store
  • ‘Track’ to receive the status of your most recent order
  • ‘Stop’ to unsubscribe from that store’s texts
  • ‘Options’ to see a list of all of these commands ^

To use a command, simply text the word without the parentheses in a single message. The commands are not case-sensitive.

    1. Hi Gayla, you’ll need to visit the sale or Storefront of the seller you want to shop from. You can usually find links to their sales on their Facebook page, or you can send them a message. If you’re following their store already because of a past purchase, you can visit your BuyItLive profile by clicking your photo in the top right of the page after logging in and then view the list of stores you’re currently following.

  2. This is a fradulant charge and will be disputed. I received this message in my e-mail today and I will be disputing this charge as I did not authorize this. Also, Could not reply to the email message as it states
