Managing Inventory: Shopify Integration

BuyItLive integrates with Shopify for inventory management. When you import your products from Shopify, you’re able to sell them using BuyItLive sales. In order to use our Shopify integration, you will need to install the unlisted BuyItLive app in your Shopify store. Afterwards, you will be able to enable Shopify Checkout and start selling!

Updating Products

All of your inventory is managed within Shopify. This means any time you want to update a product name, increase product quantities, or add a new product photo, you will do so within Shopify. The only thing you can edit in BuyItLive are product codes and variant option text. Product codes are what your shoppers will comment when they want to claim an item. For example, “buy blueshirt xl” for a cool blue shirt you have added in Shopify. The variant option text in the above example is “xl.”

To update the product code for a product, click on the pencil icon to the far right of the product. All codes need to be unique, but feel free to use letters, numbers, or a mixture of both. Use codes that will be simple for your shoppers to remember and type.

To update variant option text for a product, use the pencil icon in the Inv column. Variant names are stored in Shopify and can’t be changed in BuyItLive. However, you have the ability to choose variant option text that is different from your variant names.

Note

Variant names are seen within the cart and on the Storefront in BuyItLive. Variant option text is simply what your shoppers comment to claim a specific variant.

Syncing Inventory

As previously mentioned, product information can only be updated within Shopify. Product quantities are shown on BuyItLive but are based on the values entered in Shopify. BuyItLive will automatically update product quantities in these situations:

  • As shoppers check out via Shopify Checkout
  • When an order is placed through BuyItLive or Shopify
  • When quantities are manually updated in Shopify

Don’t be alarmed if you check the product page in BuyItLive and find the quantities listed don’t match what is in Shopify. These quantities will be updated when they need to be. Always use Shopify as your main source for product information.

Disabled Products

When visiting the products page in BuyItLive, you might notice there are no products or less than what you have in Shopify. If you’ve already imported your products, they are most likely disabled. On the right hand side of your products page, you can view your disabled products list. These are products in Shopify that have not been made available on the BuyItLive Sales Channel. Find out how to enable them.
